My research focuses on solving statistical problems using algebraic geometry, commutative algebra and combinatorics.
Previously, my research was funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and I led the Research Group in Algebraic Statistics at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig.

- This academic year I’m teaching Inferência Estatística, Estatística Aplicada and Geometria Diferencial at FCUP, and Álgebra Linear e Geometria Analítica at FEUP.
- My joint article with Liam Solus was accepted for publication in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B.
- With Serkan Hoşten and Simon Telen I organized the summer school New perspectives on discriminants and their applications at MPI MiS in Leipzig.
- Keynote speaker at the Algebraic Statistics 2025 conference in Munich.
- I gave a tutorial on the algebra of staged trees in Genoa.
